2015 has been a great year for Bollywood industry where most of the films did a great business at the box office. The year 2015 was a pivotal one for women in film and the astonishing girl power worked good at the Box Office. The best way to ensure that Bollywood keeps moving to a more gender balanced future, movies like Piku, NH10, Massan, Tanu Weds Manu returns and Margarita with a straw are some epic women-led films in 2015. Below is the list of few women-centric films to look forward in 2016:




Sonam Kapoor's upcoming film “Neerja” is a biopic of Neerja Bhanot who saved passenger life while losing her own in the ill-fated Pan Am Flight 73 that was hijacked in Karachi in 1986. The trailer of the film released had received a good response and the film is set to release on February 19 2016.


Jai Gangaajal:


Bollywood leading lady Priyanka Chopra has already proved herself in a heroine-centric role in Mary Kom. The actress now has replaced in place of Ajay Devgan in the successful Gangaajal’s second instalment. For the first time a lady cop (Priyanka) will be seen battling corruption and the film is set to release on March 4, 2016.




Aishwarya Rai Bachchan upcoming film 'Sarabjit' is a biopic which is based on the life of Indian prisoner Sarabjit Singh who was alleged of terrorism and spying by the Pakistani government. Randeep Hooda will be playing the role of Sarabjit, Aishwarya as his sister and Richa Chadha has his wife. Thereby making it a women-centric film and is slated to release on May 20.



Richa Chadha will play the leading role in the film and she will be playing a glamorous role as a cabaret dancer. The film portrays Richa in a very different role rather than singing and dancing.


Chalk and Duster:


Chalk and Duster is a film which is based on a teacher and students relationship. Juhi Chawla and Shabana Azmi will be seen playing the lead roles while Divya Dutta, Zarina Wahab and Richa Chadha in vital roles.
