It happens rarely that two big films lock horns at the box-office in Indian cinema as every movie aims big on figures in its first week. Even Bollywood filmmakers announce the release dates of their movies long before the completion of the shoot to avoid clash which may result in financial losses.
This year Sharukh Khan’s Dilwale and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani locked horns and both the movies released on December 18th all over the world. Sharukh Khan, Kajol, Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon played the lead roles in the movie directed by Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra played the lead roles in Bajirao Mastani.
Dilwale opened to flying colours and the movie collected Rs 21 crores which has been huge. Bajirao Mastani could collect Rs 12.80 crores on its first day. The movies collected Rs 65.09 crores and Rs 46.77 crores respectively in their first weekends.
However Dilwale witnessed a huge dip in maintaining the stability on the first Monday and it collected just Rs 10.09 crores. The movie witnessed 52% drop on its first Monday when compared to its first day. Bajirao Mastani managed to be stable by collecting Rs 10.25 crores just dropping by 19% as compared to the first day. Let’s wait to see how much the movies will mint by the end of first week.
