We can’t think of any Bollywood film without having any colourfully choreographed song or dance sequences that become more popular than the movie sometimes. There are numerous songs to reflect the right situation in the movie such as love, joy, sorrow, anger, motivation and other shades of human emotions. Surprisingly there are few movies that don’t have any song or dance, below is the list of few Bollywood films that has no Song and Dance Sequences.
Kanoon – 1960:
The film completely narrates the story of a murder case which stars Ashok Kumar, Rajendra Kumar and Nanda in lead roles. The movie has a series of spectacular scenes leaving no space for any songs or dance.
Ittefaq – 1969:
It is a remake of the 1965 British film Signpost to Murder and it is the second Bollywood film that did not have any songs. It is produced by BR Chopra and stars Rajesh Khanna, Nanda, Bindu, Madan Puri and Iftekhar in prominent roles. It is a semi hit film with good box office collections.
Kalyug – 1981:
Filmmaker Shyam Benegal narrated the story in a nice way and it is an age old story of the Mahabharata which is told in a modern day version of a war and rival between two significant business families. In 1982 the film has won the Filmfare Award for Best Film.
Pushpaka Vimana – 1987
It remains has one of Indian cinema’s masterpiece which is a silent full length movie narrated in a different way without having any songs. The film received highly positive reviews and won many awards, starring Kamal Haasan, Amala, Tinu Anand and Farida Jalal in lead roles.
Kaun – 1999:
Ram Gopal Varma who is known for his unconventional thoughts made it in a different style without any songs. It is a psychological thriller film which stars Urmila Matondkar, Manoj Bajpai and Sushant Singh in lead roles.
Bhoot – 2003:
Another Ram Gopal Varma directed supernatural horror flick 'Bhoot' is one of the successful horrors film. It is a film which is completely built up of tension and suspense and it has only a promotional song for the trailer with no songs in the movie.
Iqbal – 2005:
The film is all about a mute and deaf boy from a small village who full fill his dream of becoming a cricketer and playing for the Indian national cricket team. It is directed by Nagesh Kukunoor and has no songs.
Khosla Ka Ghosla – 2006:
Dibakar Banerjee's small budget film narrates the story of a common man who gets back his grabbed land back from an influential property dealer. It is a clean family entertainer which has no songs and dance sequences in it.
Being Cyrus – 2006:
The film is directed by Homi Adajania and is a plot filled with mystery and suspense. The movie has created more impact without any songs. It is Saif Ali Khan’s first film in English and also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia and Boman Irani in prominent roles.
A Wednesday – 2008:
It is a Neeraj Pandey’s thriller movie which narrates the story of a common man who calls Mumbai Police calming that he had planted bombs in different places in the city. He demand cops lo leave four terrorists in exchange to remove the bombs. Naseeruddin Shah and Anupam Kher stars in lead roles and this movie sail smoothly through the fascinating plot line with no songs.
