South Indian director Shankar has a special place in the hearts of Indian movie lovers. After the huge success of Robo, he is now in plans for the sequel titled Robo 2. There were several rumors about the project and Shankar made it official with a picture.
Rajinikanth will play the lead role in movie which is touted out to be the costliest ever Indian film made till date. The VFX effects of the movie are said to be the major highlights of the movie and the shoot will start from January next year.
After several big names considered for the role of antagonist in Robo 2, Akshay Kumar made up into the news after he met the team of Robo 2 in Chennai last night. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Aamir Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Vikram have been considered for the role but the makers have zeroed Akshay Kumar.
Akshay flew to Chennai in a private jet to attend the discussions and he returned back to Mumbai the same night. When asked him about the developments, he rejected to make a comment and sources said that the producers of the movie will make it official.
Shankar who tasted his first debacle with ‘I’ this year has worked hard on the script for over more than an year. He made sure that he will not repeat the mistakes of ‘I’. Amy Jackson will play the female lead in the movie and she will be seen as a Robot in the movie.
The other cast and crew of the movie are currently being finalized. Srinivas Mohan who worked for films like Robo and Baahubali: The Beginning will take care of the VFX works and AR Rahman will compose the music. Lyca Productions are producing Robo 2 which has been made on a budget of over Rs 280 crores. The movie will complete all the formalities and will hit the screens during 2017 summer.
